For a long time, the X-Plane 11 pilots were eagerly awaiting the move from OpenGL to Vulkan as a graphics engine, but now it's finally here. As of today, X-Plane 11.5 is available as beta, which allows the flight simulator to be rendered over volcano and metal for the first time. This should primarily bring a considerable plus in performance.
I recently got the Hot Start TBM 900 and when I turn on Vulkan mode for X plane 11 it will not load up a flight if I chose the TBM for my aircraft. When I open up task bar it says X plane 11 is not responding. It will only do this for the TBM when Vulkan is on. In the loading screen it gets to the TBM 900 by the blue bar then just stops responding.JustFlight Traffic Global on Vulkan - XPlane 11.50 Beta 4 April 25, 2020 JustFlight has released an update to Version 1.4 of its Traffic Global software. LR has created its first Beta of the Vulkan update for X-Plane. I had to try it, of course, not without copying my current version to an external SDD (which takes a surprisingly long time, by the way). I did a flight in the Zibo Mod Boeing 738 because it is known to have no problems. The FlightFactor A320 is not ready yet, The Toliss Airbusses.
X-Plane 11: Vulkan and Metal: Testing and Bug Fighting. One thing you can say about the X-Plane 11 developers, is that they do provide plenty of details on the behind the scenes development work. The latest entry from designer Ben Supnik goes into great details on the work going into the latest beta using Metal and Vulkan.
If an add-on appears to not work correctly, you can disable Vulkan and Metal and restart X-Plane. v11.50 is a BETA, not a release, so expect CTD (Crash to Desktop) and loads of other weird things going wrong, the trick is to keep X-Plane v11.50 version as basic as you can, few plugins, few aircraft, but the custom scenery folder should be fine.

X-Plane 11.50 Beta 5 Temporarily Recalled For Being Stupid. Laminar Research released X-Plane 11.50 Beta 5 and almost immediately recalled it, as it was clear it contained a major bug in memory management that was causing crashes. Rather refreshing to see someone admit to their mistake and not try and cover it up.
XSquawkBox 2.x is NOT SUPPORTED with X-Plane betas. I will look into issues, but I really do not guaranty or even pretend that they work. Furthermore, 2.x does not work with Vulkan, and there’s a bug in 11.50b1 that will probably break it with OpenGL too. If you want to fly on VATSIM, please run the stable release of X-Plane.
Laminar Research has released to the public their X-Plane 11.50 Beta Update. This major update features the native support of Vulkan and Metal API. The marketing guys showed the Vulkan build of X-Plane live at Cosford last week; that build did not have any support for texture paging. Since then, Sidney has a basic texture paging implementation.
X-Plane Developer - Fighting Blurry Textures. The improvements in X-Plane 11.50 have really improved frame rates for most people and eliminated stutters, but brought on a challenge of fighting blurry textures which occur when VRAM runs out.
